Objectives for Joanna Howard, Academic Year 2007-08
TEACHING
Classroom: Continue to develop technological aids for EN 001, specifically, a lesson involving the concept of person; Create "Judy Chicago" style dinner party for Women in Literature class; Work with librarian to develop a Women in Literature research page.
Biomedical Scholars: Continue to develop materials for second-year students; deliver workshops; mentor year -one and year -two students; represent program at one of MC’s college fairs.
SERVICE
Department Service: Work on Evaluation Committee; mentor an adjunct; develop "Departmental Memory" project; host September and April "Poetry at Noon" programs.
Campus Service: Serve on Academic Appeals committee; continue to be a member of Advising Cadre; Serve on Mark Curtis Award committee
Discipline Service: Serve on Collegewide English Steering Committee and on Statewide Standards of English Committee; work on October conference for SSE; continue Assessment/Retention research to be delivered to Provosts and Deans in December and follow up on later research
Collegewide Service: Continue membership on Montgomery College Advocacy for Latino Achievement and Success (MC-ALAS ).serve on Writing in Disciplines committee; judge poetry at annual ACT-SO competition; Serve as Associate Editor (poetry reader) of Potomac
CURRENCY/CONFERENCES
September: Online conference on using e-portfolios
October: Baltimore, advising conference(NACADA), one-day workshop on doing research in the advising field; Howard CC, SSE yearly conference, read proposals
February: Online Computers and Writing conference
March: 4C's, blog on behalf of BW mail list
